The Ross Story
Ross Wilburn is the diversity officer and the associate program director for Community and Economic Development for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.
As diversity officer, Ross coordinates and guides efforts to define, understand, foster, and assess diversity as a fundamental resource within ISU Extension and Outreach. He serves as a resource for diversity-related initiatives, activities, materials, advice, and counsel. Within Community and Economic Development Extension and Outreach, Ross helps manage the budget, supervises campus-based faculty and staff, coordinates new program development initiatives, develops the federal plan of work, and oversees other annual reporting in partnership with the College of Design.
Previously, Ross served as the director of equity for the Iowa City Community School District, the executive director of the Crisis Center of Johnson County, a visiting instructor at the University of Iowa, and program coordinator and acting associate director of United Action for Youth in Iowa City. He also has served as Iowa City mayor and council member.
Ross has 26 years of experience in nonprofit and governmental organizations locally and nationally. He serves ISU Extension and Outreach in expanding opportunities for Iowans.
